Little Skirts and Welcome

A big welcome to Karen and to Christine via bloglovin welcome to my blog.

I am a member of a small craft group associate with one of the local churches. Each year this small group of women work tirelessly to organise and produce items for the Shoebox Appeal.  For those of you who are not aware of the appeal,  donations are collected and packed into shoe boxes and sent to poorer countries.  Around Christmas time the boxes are distributed to the children, I cried while watching a DVD of the children receiving their boxes. The excitement of the children was overwhelming

All items donate must be able to fit into a shoe box, some of the donations include,
tooth brushes
writing pads
pens and pencils
face cloths
small toys
exercise books

The group often hold working bees to make drawstring bags to hold the personal and school items and last year over 100 small dolls were knitted.

I have donated fabric, drawstring bags, pens, pencils and face cloths.  This month I made 6 little skirts.

The instructions for these little skirts is included in an older post called Little Skirts and it is Raining Buttons

Hope all is well in blog land

  1. We do the shoebox appeal here in Canada too! The school kids get quite into it, choosing toys and gifts to put in. I honestly never thought of making clothes to put in - what a great idea!

    1. Hi Colleen thanks for you comment sorry this has taken awhile. It is amazing how many countries contribute. It is also nice to know that your donations get to those who need them. Our little craft group also makes shorts for the boys. They are currently making knitted hand puppets for next years boxes and I get to use up all my leftover fabrics. Cheers Pauline

Thank you for visiting. Your comments are valued and I look forward to reading them.
