Thank you and HELP

Before I start I want to thank everyone for their  concern for Bob. He is doing much better.

Now the HELPDoes anyone out there in Blog land know how to stop anonymous comments?   I have been receiving a lot of anonymous comments lately that are of a sexual and pornographic nature.  I am unable to see a web address and cannot work out how to block the person who is making the comments.  I moderate any comments but it is frustrating . There is at least one comment a day.  I have been thinking of closing my blog but I enjoy reading what others have been doing and see all your wonderful creations.

Cheers Pauline

  1. I've been getting hit with lots of Anonymous comments lately too. I initially had my blog set up so that you had to put in a security code thingy to leave a message and then I took it off after reading that a lot of people didn't like them. I'm almost at the point of putting it back on though, just have to remember how to do it! I'll let you know if I remember!

  2. I've had a few anonymous comments but it's so I check out some weird website. Nothing too awful. I hope you keep your blog. I love reading your blog! Why do people do this? It's simply awful.

  3. Okay, found it! If you use Blogger, you need to put 'Word Verification' onto your blog. The "word verification" option can be found on the Settings | Posts and comments section. Hope that helps! I'm going to put mine back on too!

  4. Thanks sooli I will have a look and see if that helps. There is atleast one comment per day. I thought if I did not publish for awhile it would stop, but it has not.

    1. Pauline, you can also in your settings, not allow comments from anonymous users. Or alternatively, if you choose to allow anonymous comments, you can still have all comments moderated by yourself first, before they get published. Word verification, does not need to be enabled, to moderate and check all comments before you decide to publish them. But it's an extra deterrent for would be spammers. Drop me an email if you want me to explain it further.

  5. Hi Pauline...sorry to hear about those comments. I also think that word verification will help. I have not taken it off for that reason even though many people do not like it. Maybe give it a try and see whether it stops...

  7. Hi Pauline, I've also been getting them but don't like using the word verification so I went to Settings, then under "Posts and Comments" I ticked the "Registered User" as who can post comments. By removing "Anyone can comment" it will usually eliminate spammers.
